Co To sea area is the largest fishing ground of Quangninh Province and also has great potential for seafood products, especially pearls. It has a long white sandy beach with a range of casuarina trees and pine forests. In 1961, President Ho Chi Minh visited Co To. He allowed the erection of his statue on the island at the wish of the Co To people. This was the only statue of Uncle Ho to be erected during his lifetime.

The statue was built 9 m high, 100m away from the beach, at the place where he stood to talk with the people of Co To - where he became the spiritual symbol of the border area. Beside his statue, there is a commemorative site with displays and information on the President’s meetings and visit of 1961.
